GivingTuesdayNow is a global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. GivingTuesday believes that generosity has the power to unite and heal communities in good times and bad. A global threat like COVID-19 affects more than just the infected. A pandemic like this touches every person on the planet, and it presents an opportunity to come together as a global community.

Since not everyone may be able to offer financial support right now, then join The Cleveland Professional 20/30 Club in supporting our community by "giving kindness" instead. There are many ways to support this movement by performing random acts of kindness at home and virtually. Here are some suggestions:

Reach Out via text, phone calls, or video chat:  Check in on your friends, family, and neighbors, particularly those who live alone.

Light Up the Night:  Decorate your front porch or apartment balcony with string lights, or simply turn on your exterior lights at night as a display of solidarity and positivity.

Donate Blood:  Visit https://www.redcrossblood.org/donate-blood/dlp/coronavirus--covid-19--and-blood-donation.html for information about donating blood during the pandemic and to find a blood drive near you.

Make Masks:  The Cleveland Clinic is accepting masks made at home for use in certain situations. Information on donation drop-off locations and a mailing address can be found at https://give.ccf.org/campaign/covid-19-contribute-supplies/c278453 and instructions on making masks at https://give.ccf.org/campaign/covid-19-make-masks/c278450.

Be Someone's Eyes:  Download the Be My Eyes app (https://www.bemyeyes.com/) and lend your eyes to assist with solving tasks, both big and small, to help blind and low-vision people lead more independent lives.

Brighten a Child's Day:  Make cards for hospitalized kids (http://www.cardsforhospitalizedkids.com/).

Support our Troops and First Responders:  Operation Gratitude has started a virtual movement to allow people to give back and show their gratitude to our Troops and First Responders from their homes. Visit https://www.operationgratitude.com/express-your-thanks-virtual/ for information on writing letters, making paracord bracelets, and more.

Kindness is contagious. Just seeing someone perform an act of kindness can warm your heart. Therefore, we will award five winners a $10 gift card to their favorite local coffee shop for sharing their act of kindness with us.

To enter:

- Like The Cleveland Professional 20/30 Club on Facebook

- Share the event on your personal page
